Biography

Ruth Wilson is an Adelaide based artist and founding member of Floating Goose Studios. She completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2013 and was selected for inclusion in the Helpmann Academy Graduates Exhibition. Wilson has exhibited in numerous group shows and has had two Solo exhibitions since completing her BVA. Most recently she has exhibited her solo show "Verge of Nice" at Floating Goose Gallery and was part of the installation exhibition "Otherworld" along with 12 other artists at "Z-Ward", the now defunct 1840s building for the Criminally Insane at Glenside, Adelaide.

 

Wilson’s exhibited works include: stereoscopic (3D) photographic works, structural-steel “drawings” for dance performance, large scale monochromatic drawings, production of soundscapes to accompany her own and other video artist’s work, motion video performance and site specific installation works.

 

Ruth Wilson’s overriding interest is in the theatricality of the construction of social identity; the grand sweeps and gentle intimate motions which affect our personal perspectives.
